Association for Medical Education in Europe – AMEE 2017
The world’s leading medical education conference.
The Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) promotes excellence in education in medicine and the healthcare professions across the continuum of undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education. AMEE’s flagship initiative is the annual conference, and we proudly submit our AMEE 2017 Conference in Helsinki, Finland, for consideration for the ‘Best Association Conference’ in the Association Excellence Awards 2018. The conference attracted 3,926 teachers, students, deans, administrators and researchers from 92 countries, keen to hear about the latest developments in the field and to contribute their own work through a wide range of presentation formats. Many international collaborations are established at the AMEE conference, with teams returning the following year to deliver workshops and to take forward research projects. The challenges of putting on a good conference are many including choice of location, facilities and cost, and but delivering exciting content that meets the needs of participants is paramount. AMEE adopts a “you said, we listened, we did” policy, with participant feedback informing future conference decisions. We are passionate about our AMEE conference, and believe it meets a real need to develop and improve medical education worldwide in order to deliver better patient care.
Association for Project Management – APM Project Management Conference 2018
The 2018 APM Project Management Conference, which was sponsored by Hyde Park Solutions Ltd, welcomed over 500 delegates to join the discussion on the theme: “Future Proof – preparing today’s profession for tomorrow’s challenges”.
The event, which took place on Wednesday 25 April 2018 in the beautiful setting of Central Hall Westminster in London, saw a variety of speakers, including futurist Rohit Talwar, broadcaster & mathematician Hannah Fry and chief executive of the Royal Society of Arts, Matthew Taylor, give their take on what the future holds for project management and how those working in the profession can become ‘Future Proof’.
APM used a mix of communication channels before, during and after the event including a new event app, email, social media, video, blogs and magazine articles. This ensured a “long-tail” effect of engagement, not just with the delegates, but the profession as a whole long after the day of the event itself. The conference engaged with brand new audiences and quality of speakers was rated good or excellent by 25% more delegates that the previous year.
The APM Conference was a huge success from the delegate point of view with 96% looking to attend again in 2017.

Diabetes UK – Diabetes UK Professional Conference
Diabetes UK Professional Conference (DUKPC) 14th – 16th March 2018 hosted at ExCeL London.
Diabetes UK has run a professional conference since the formation of the charity in 1934 and, in its current format, for the past 20 years. This is the biggest opportunity to speak face to face to a large proportion of the diabetes professional community. The content of the 2018 Diabetes UK conference programme was directed by some of the findings from research conducted with people living with diabetes, for example a focus on advising and promoting good practice with primary care professionals. This year 560 posters were presented along with a programme of over 290 hours of scientific content. This boosted knowledge and understanding of diabetes across multiple stakeholder groups.
*The second highest attendance to date and the highest since 2015. The Insider event hosted 250 people against a target of 200.
*There was an increase in the number of primary care delegates with 21% of attendees being GPs or nurses compared to 11% in 2017.
*94% of delegates learnt things at the conference that were new to them.
*79% of delegates feel more confident in treating patients with diabetes as a result of the conference.
Intensive Care Society – Society’s State of the Art Conference
Hampton Medical has worked in partnership with the Intensive Care Society since 2016 to modernise, innovate and drive forward the Society’s State of the Art (SOA) conference, delivering the UK’s foremost critical care meeting for emerging technologies and essential clinical updates.
Held at the ACC in Liverpool, SOA 2017 represented first time the event had been held outside of London and was the most successful event in the Society’s history, with record delegate numbers, representing 25 countries.
Consulting with industry partners was central to their engagement with the event, generating increased revenue to invest into the delegate experience.
Putting in place an effective marketing campaign was also crucial to driving awareness and delegate numbers. As well as a targeted email campaign and social media strategy, poster notifications were placed throughout intensive care units to raise awareness amongst the critical care community.
The enhanced delegate experience, rich scientific programme, innovations and technologies created an engaging and seamless delegate experience, resulting in overwhelmingly positive feedback. The exhibition target was almost doubled and over 50% of exhibitors re-booked for SOA2018 during the event.
Most importantly, the conference generated a surplus beyond expectations for the Society to invest in its education and charitable work.

The Manufacturing Technologies Association – MACH 2018
MACH 2018 was ‘The Event for Inspiring, Innovating and Connecting Manufacturing’ and our goal for the show was to live up every aspect of this and to help both our exhibitors and visitors do likewise.
2018 was full of big changes for the show with new halls, new layout and new technologies creating challenges for the organising team but providing new opportunities for our exhibitors to engage with clients and acheive real returns on their investment.
The show deomstrated growth across the board – it was bigger, had more visitors, increased media coverage and all of that meant that it was a better platform for the MTA members to promote themselves, create brand awareness and do business. As a trade association it is our priviledge to provide our members with the opportunity to showcase themselves but it is their commitment to the MACH, the industry and the Association that made the event the success that it was; we would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their support and dedication.
The Personal Finance Society – A Festival of Financial Planning
The Personal Finance Society joined forces with events agency TFI Group to create “The biggest PFS conference ever and the biggest Financial Services industry event of the year”. The vision was to regenerate their annual flagship event, in a completely different format to past years, designed to attract a wider audience with the primary objective of education on technical and best practice topics to enhance their professional status. The event was re-formatted from a traditional conference and exhibition to an “expo” style environment where learning and information share ran alongside engaging keynote sessions, encouraging attendees to personalise their agenda and make best use of their time. A Festival of Financial Planning was a huge success and exceeded expectations, mainly due to the immersive experience enjoyed by all stakeholders. The event had considerable impact in the press, PR and social media making it the must attend event of the financial services calendar.
