ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) – The ACCA CBE Practice Platform
The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, ACCA, is committed to providing global study support to all who wish to study for the ACCA qualification.
We created the Computer-based Exam (CBE) Practice Platform because practising exam standard questions in the real exam environment and debriefing and marking these answers is critical to students’ success. It’s unique among accountancy professional bodies and is driving a new level of partnership between ACCA and learning providers. And the impact on student exam success has been outstanding – for some exams, using the platform can boost pass rates by as much as 20%.
British Pest Control Association – Bugs in the system – pest control training goes virtual
British Pest Control Association (BPCA) is the professional association for the UK public health pest management industry We’re committed to driving up professional standards within the sector and offer a range of training and assessments for both members and non-members.
Pest management is officially recognised as key work, so the option to continue training and personal development is crucial. During 2020 our training team worked tirelessly to move traditionally physical courses online, created a range of new courses and increased our portfolio of online CPD resources exponentially, with CPD assignments, webinars, digital forums, downloadable toolbox talk templates, online quizzes and more.
With a wide range of more accessible online training courses and digital resources, we have ensured those working in this essential sector can continue to gain the knowledge and skills required to work professionally during a time of great crisis. We currently have 709 companies in membership, a 5 2% increase compared to February 2020, with more awaiting acceptance. 9/10 members completed their CPD requirement in 2020, with some recording as many as 200 hours of CPD.
We believe BPCA has stepped up to challenges created by the pandemic, successfully supporting our members to continue working safely and professionally.
Emerging Payments Association – Payment 101, Payments Compliance Training Programme and iFinance Academy
The Emerging Payments Association (EPA), established in 2008, sets out to make payments work for everyone. To achieve this, it runs a comprehensive programme of activities for members with guidance from an independent Advisory Board of 15 payments CEOs.
At the EPA we understand the importance of learning and development. Investing in your team via training can deliver a powerful uplift in performance and engagement, can drive stronger employee retention (by investing in your people), makes your staff feel valued and shows your commitment to your employees and their development – giving them the resources and tools they need to succeed/thrive.
With a training portfolio of interactive classroom training and e-learning training courses, the EPA will lead the most comprehensive learning and development programmes for the Payments industry.
Institution of Mechanical Engineers/Think – EngRec – Virtual recruitment platform
EngRec is a virtual recruitment and CPD platform for trainee and young engineers. The launch event in 2020 was attended by over 1,700 people.
As part of the Institute’s support for young engineers, we started investigating the need for a virtual careers fair in January 2020. We polled a selection of young engineers, asking about their access to career opportunities and employment information. We found that although 71% were keen to attend physical careers fairs, the biggest obstacles were time (47%), distance (37%) and a lack of events dedicated to engineering (30%). This lead us to launch EngRec the first virtual careers event in the engineering sector.
The event exceeded our pre-registration targets by 20% and surpassed our attendee target by 54%. Attendees spent, on average, two hours at the event, attended two seminars and visited at least five exhibitors. 90% of post-event respondents applied for more than one opportunity on the day and visited talks by industry leaders and key recruiters. The event also produced a lead-gen halo with 23% of attendees being new contacts. EngRec has been so successful that running a bigger 2021 event with more content was an easy decision to make.
The Pensions Management Institute – PMI qualifications
Founded in 1976, the Pensions Management Institute (PMI) is the UK’s largest and most recognisable professional body for employee benefit and retirement savings professionals, supporting over 6,500 members.
PMI’s members, represented in multiple regions across the UK, are responsible for managing and advising some of the largest global institutions. We promote excellence through a range of services for the benefit of members, the wider economy and society as a whole.
With a year since the first official reporting of a COVID-19 case, we have almost arrived at a global paralysis of regular education and training provision. This unprecedented situation affected all learning at all levels. Basic and secondary education, initial and continuing training, and work-based learning all came to a stop as we knew them. It upturned course schedules and attendance, disrupted teaching and learning, frustrated examinations and assessments, delayed certification, and will affect the immediate and future careers of millions of learners.
In order to meet one of the objectives of our five-year plan – to become ‘digital by default’ (despite the pandemic) – we successfully reinvented our qualifications offering from paper-based exams to online delivery.
