British Martial Arts & Boxing Association
The British Martial Arts & Boxing Association is a leading UK martial arts governing body, focused on raising the standard of professionalism amongst instructors and promoting grass roots martial arts participation for the wider public.
Since 2012 the BMABA has assisted more than 4,500 people in accessing safe, affordable and professional martial arts whilst providing a range of safeguarding, health & safety and professional services to instructors and clubs, to help raise standards.
The organisation was founded in 2012 with just a £4.99 domain name, and £15.00 of capital and has since grown organically to be a well respected, community led association signposted to by the Home Office’s official #knifefree campaign, amongst others. To date, nobody within the association draws a salary and instead it is run as a voluntary led organisation, with a portion of it’s profits being reinvested in charitable causes or subsiding classes for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Club Managers Association of Europe
The Club Managers Association of Europe (CMAE) is a non-profit making professional association with members involved in the management of sports clubs (golf, tennis, sailing, rowing, rugby, football, cricket), health & fitness clubs, leisure, city and dining clubs located throughout Europe.
The CMAE provides our members with a structured education programme, called the Management Development Programme, which is a series of 5 educational courses all designed to help club managers excel in their jobs and help develop their career in club management. (Now looking to develop two more courses in 2019/2020 thanks to the success of the courses)
2017/2018 is the best year yet with 11 MDPs around Europe, one of them in Spanish! The first ever MDP in another language than English. MDP exist around the globe with other organisations – partners of CMAA (Club Management Association of America).

- Number of diplomas (CMDip) – 241 (delegates who done MDP 1 & 2 and passed exams and a WBA)
- Number of CCMs – 45 (A lot of global criterias – started in Europe in 2010)
Lacrosse continues to grow with over 36,000 participants (up from 5,500 in 2005) playing once per week for at least 30 minutes, in English Lacrosse leagues and partner competitions. EL turnover has increased by 165%, to £2m per year, since 2008
EL has key corporate partnerships with Rathbones, STX (lacrosse equipment), Player Layer (Team England apparel), RPC Solicitors and FBT (merchandise).
In 2017 EL hosted The FIL Rathbones Women’s World Cup 2017. It was a successful event for both the host country, England, and the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL).
The Event was comprised of two elements:
• The FIL Rathbones Women’s World Cup 2017, where 25 countries participated over 10 days and with the USA winning the Gold Medal.
• The FIL festival of lacrosse, where 62 teams participated over an 11 day period in a number of age and ability related tournaments.
EL met and surpassed performance indicators for the event, which included:
- Achieving ticket sales targets / Income targets
- 75% positive approval rating from spectators
- England winning a Bronze medal
- £4 million economic impact to the local area
Kick It Out
Kick It Out is football’s equality and inclusion organisation.
The organisation has raised awareness of, and challenged, discrimination across the professional, non-league and grassroots levels of the game for 25 years. Our work continues to make football a more inclusive and welcoming place for everyone.
A small independent charity, the ‘Let’s Kick Racism Out of Football’ campaign was established in 1993 in response to widespread calls from clubs, players and fans to tackle racist attitudes existing within the game. Kick It Out was then established as a body in 1997 as it widened out its objectives to cover all aspects of discrimination, inequality and exclusion.
In 2013 we launched our Kick It Out reporting app, which allows anyone to report discrimination they see or hear at football matches or online. The reporting tool has since becoming one of the most prominent and well-known forms of registering a complaint.
Internationally, Kick It Out has close links the Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) Network, and has been cited as an example of good practice by the Council of Europe, the European Commission, European parliamentarians and the British Council.
Professional Football Scouts Association
The Professional Football Scouts Association is an Internationally recognised organisation, based in the Heart of Lancashire and formed in 2013.
Representing and delivering accredited Football Scout courses worldwide and promoting good practice and raising quality standards for all scouts.
Surfing England are a non-profit members organisation who gained National Governing Body status in 2017. They are energetic, innovative and passionate about their sport and its development in England. At the heart of their values is growing a sustainable healthy surfing community. They represent Surfing from grassroots entry to the elite Team England. Surfing England are proud to promote equality throughout the sport and believe that there is a discipline for every person of any age and at any ability or with any disability. Surfing England run their own events which is evidence in itself of these values; they organise Grom Search junior competitions, National English Adaptive’s, English Interclub Championships and the English Nationals They are a dynamic, forward-thinking organisation who work extremely hard to support their Members base of individuals, coaches, surf school and surf clubs. They are reactive to the fast-paced sporting environment and respond to its members needs, whether it be information on the Junior Surfer Scheme or a new Surf School requesting Accreditation and branding materials. With surfing due to debut in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, it is a most exciting time for Surfing England and winning Best Sports Association would only inspire them further!
The Football Foundation
The Football Foundation is English football’s best kept secret.
It has quietly revolutionised community football, working with local people across the country to regenerate and transform dilapidated facilities into modern, inclusive sports complexes.
A dedicated staff creating and utilising sophisticated technological solutions means it is the most advanced sports organisation of its type in the world in the field of targeting and managing community sports infrastructure investment.
As well as the health of football, the Foundation has massively increased the health of the UK population and economy.
The Rugby Players’ Association
Established in 1998, the Rugby Players’ Association (RPA) is the representative body and collective voice of professional rugby players in England. For the past 20 years, it’s been our mission to make England the best place in the world to play rugby.

Over the past 20 years, the RPA has grown from a one-man operation with no funding into one of the most well-respected and progressive Player Associations in world sport; one which has played a significant role in creating the thriving rugby landscape we see in this country today.
As it embarks on the next chapter in its history, the RPA remains committed to supporting its members from the moment they are awarded their first academy contract, continuing throughout their playing career and beyond as they establish their life after sport.
